Space Level RE

The space products industry is robust and growing. Due to innovation and competition, the costs are coming down but remain high due to numerous innate variables such as complexity and environment. These products must consistently have high reliability since determining root causes of product failure are difficult and expensive.

Yet, years of space product engineering and management experience clearly show that changes to product, planned or unplanned, naturally occur introducing risk of failure. Plus, experience also revealed that failures are often due to multiple changes or variables combining which makes determining failure mechanism even harder to identify and validate. Only a well-trained and empowered proactive engineer supported by a properly structured quality management system and culture can effectively mitigate those product risks.

Space Level RE has been created to share real lessons learned and help guide others to tools and resources which will help engineers and space product companies avoid some of the difficulties we have witnessed and endured. We use three main tools to accomplish this.
